A Wedding Photographer’s Self-Isolation | Week 5

It’s crazy to think this is week five of lockdown. The scary thing is that this is all starting to feel pretty normal now. I’m getting worried that when lockdown is lifted, I’m gonna turn and run away every time someone comes close to me shouting ‘THAT’S NOT TWO METERS’.  The good news is, I kicked myself out of the rut I was in last week and just getting on with things with less of a frown at the moment.

A daily routine has materialised in the house now. Emily works on the sofa with her computer on her lap, Ethan has made our bedroom his personal den as it has a TV with Youtube on it and Alex has claimed the garden as his sanctuary. The occasional sounds of annoying Youtubers shouting “OMG, I can’t believe this is happening, it’s so random” or “I’m doing the 24 hours living in a shoe challenge” comes from upstairs, the tapping of a keyboard from Emily and the constant thud of a football hitting the crossbar comes echoing from the garden. As for me, I’m still battling between wanting to do nothing and everything all at the same time.

When we break our routines we have had some fun this week. We’ve smashed up and got rid of a big greenhouse and replaced it with a rockery. We’ve planted seeds and generally tried to improve the garden. Emily created an escape room for the boys which was super fun watching them crack some codes to get out.

I’ve started doing some music recordings of some of my old songs and some new ones. The intention is to release them online as some kind of Covid19 session or something like that. For those that don’t know, music was my first love and I was strumming my guitar years before I was clicking my camera. I’ve lost touch with it for some time but the lockdown has made me pick up the guitar again and I’ve enjoyed that.

Bring on week 6….We got this
