A Wedding Photographer’s Self-Isolation | Week 3

And so it was, week three of the lockdown has been and gone. Like everyone else stuck at home, the days blend into one and I’m never really sure what time it is or what day it actually is. The only thing keeping us roughly on track are the birthdays we’ve celebrated during the lockdown. Week one it was my dads, last week Ethan turned 6 and this week Alex celebrated his 8th birthday. Emily worked super hard to not let the home restrictions dampen the day. Video messages were gathered, we played loads of challenges in the garden, ate a roast dinner (Alex’s Fave) and just had lots of fun. What a wife, what legend and what hero she is to this family.

I’ve played more guitar over the last two weeks than I have over the last two years and I can’t deny playing my songs again has been fun. I spent a lot of the week testing how to do a Facebook live gig. You know that stereotype of an old person trying to work new technology…yeah, that was me as I struggled to make expensive high-end audio equipment sound any better than my phone microphone. The kids learned a few new swear words listening to me try and sort that out 🙂

Easter Sunday started with our traditional Easter egg Hunt. Emily made clues for the boys to follow and they laughed and ran around the house hunting chocolate. I can’t deny I’m a bit annoyed that the Easter bunny only left me two eggs. I will be having words with that big-eared *****.

I managed to overcome my audio problems and finished the week with an online gig. It’s been about 2 years since I played live, so I was very nervous. I’m pretty sure it went well and the feedback has been great. I shall do another one in May for sure.

New Things we have found and enjoyed this week.

1. Homeland – One of those series we’ve never got round to watching. We are binging through series 1 at the moment and hooked

2. Maponimoes – A card/board game that’s kind of like dominoes but you match up bordering countries in Europe. It is much more fun than it sounds

3. The new Strokes Album – A return to form from the band that soundtracked many an Indie disco in my younger years.

Anyway, here’s to week four. See you on the other side.
