What did you find the most fun about planning your wedding day?
We enjoyed doing things a little differently and adding unique little touches that made it more personal to us. We tried to make the meal a bit more fun by creating a ‘Wedding Bake-Off’ competition where our friends and family could bake a cake and bring it along for dessert and win a prize. We really enjoyed planning it but it was a bit nerve wracking to think that it could go wrong if no one participated! Luckily, it went like a dream! So much cake!

What was the hardest/most stressful part of planning your wedding day?
The hardest part was trying to make everyone happy. I realised far later than I should have that we could never please everyone but it is difficult not to be a people-pleaser!

Were there any hidden things or expenses you just didn’t consider before planning your day?
Our hidden expense was the car to take us to the wedding venue as the car we had planned did not accommodate my wedding dress! Something to consider, ladies!

Can you share one bit of Advice about planning or how to approach planning your day?
Lots of people advised us not to try and please everyone, and this is advice I wish I had listened to. Apart from that, just make sure you plan your day to suit you. Tailor your day to please you and everyone who comes along will enjoy it. Plan ahead and rope in as many loved ones as possible as they will be only too pleased to help!

Can you share one bit of advice for the actually wedding day?
I know it sounds totally cliché, but the day goes so quickly so make sure you enjoy it and savour it. Eat, drink, and dance the night away with your loved ones! Oh, and make sure you have shoes that you can dance the night away in!

BONUS QUESTION – As i’m a wedding photographer and have a professional interest in this part of the day, what advice can you give about choosing the right wedding photographer?
Oh, that one is easy! Just choose Jonathan! (Emily’s very wise words not mine)
Have a look around, check reviews, go through portfolios as every photographer has a different style, check the photographer’s process for backing up photos, check the copyright/ownership of the photos and check how long the photographer will be at the wedding snapping away. Seriously though, we couldn’t recommend Jonathan enough (She really has a good head on her shoulders)
