Shustoke Barn – A Rustic 18th Century Wedding Barn

If there’s one venue in the whole of the Midlands that I photographed the most weddings at, it would be Shustoke Barn. This 18th-century red brick barn is located in the countryside of Warwickshire. It consists of one large barn that is used for civil ceremonies, the dining room and also the space for the evening reception. There’s an adjoining bar area and reception area along with an upstairs section that I’ve seen used for photo booths, after dinner tea and coffee and also on rainy wedding days as a space for guests to relax in whilst the main barn is being turned around. Complementing the rustic barn is the stunning courtyard area that is a great place for guests to mingle and enjoy the day. At night, firepits can be lit in this area and you can carry on drinking and laughing under the stars. Outside the front of the venue are a row of trees with festoon lights on in the evening and a long winding driveway. Either side of the drive are farmers fields which really do make for a beautiful rural setting.

Wedding Photography At Shustoke Barn

The ceremony space one of the nicest out of any wedding barn venues I’ve ever shot at (and trust me, I’ve shot at loads). The unique thing about the Shustoke ceremony barn is that, during the civil ceremony, the couple stand in a pool of natural light created by two large glass doors either side of them,  it’s a wedding photographer’s dream and I’ve never had that anywhere else. Barns by design are usually dark buildings and often lit with yellow lights, but the layout at Shustoke Barn makes it the perfect ceremony space.

The outside spaces at Shustoke are where it really shines for photography. The courtyard makes a great space to capture natural smiles and candid moments as your guests drink and laugh the afternoon away. There’s a great high vantage point for me and my cameras to get to so I can take a large group shot of all your guests if that’s something you wanted to do. Outside the front of the venue has some great spots for some romantic and quirky couples portraits. The farmers’ fields, the trees and the brick buildings all lend themselves to this. The beautiful long driveway (and to some extent the fields) is where we get the beautiful golden light of sunset, which I insist we explore that if the English weather allows 🙂 Finally, in the evening the festoon lit treeline offers a great place for some creative night photography.

Shustoke Barn – Words From My Brides

Sarah Jones – “When we were choosing our wedding venue we knew we wanted something with the wow factor. Shustoke Barn was our second viewing for our wedding venue and as soon as we drove down the driveway we knew this would be the one for us! And we booked the same day we viewed it. The inside of Shustoke is stunning and everything is beautiful. The staff were amazing and so helpful, caring and understood all our needs. They really looked after us throughout the whole process and the food was 5 stars. Our wedding day was perfect due to the location of the venue and the staff. ”

Jo Gosling – Shustoke is one in a million wedding venue! During our search for a venue, we initially thought we had found the right place for us at another venue and even had a second viewing booked there with the view of securing a date. We then came across Shustoke Barn! After viewing and falling in love the second we walked in, we booked it. If you are thinking of booking this venue please do, one word STUNNING! We even had one guest cry as she entered the building for the ceremony. The high ceilings reminded me instantly of the Great Hall in Harry Potter so I was very happy! The decor, setting, attention to detail, staff, everything is second to none. And the food!!!! It just kept coming! We are still having people compliment us on our wedding food to this day, with some saying it is the best food they have ever had at a wedding. We may be biased but we honestly cannot fault this venue. The planning meeting was one of the most productive days in the whole process. The venue cannot do enough to help you and not for one second did we ever feel they were pushing to get more money out of us. We were the customers from day one and this never ever changed. No request, no matter how big or small, was a problem and we were kept in constant communication through their online booking portal. For anybody looking for a wedding venue, look no further, in our opinion you have found the perfect one!
