With just under 50 weddings in 2017, I have truly been a small part in some of the most amazing wedding days going. I’ve been on dance floors that rocked so hard it shook the venue, I’ve been in ceremonies that have brought tears to my eyes and I’ve laughed so hard at speeches I’ve had to plait my legs. I’ve captured weddings in some of the most beautiful venues in the UK and also in some unusual and intimate places. I’ve eaten more buffet food than was thought humanly possible, I’ve watched fireworks burst over loving couples and I’ve made new friends for life. 2017 has been AMAZING.

I’ve been humbled by winning a few awards this year too and being recognised for my images is awesome. I’ve had the pleasure of winning two ‘Master of Wedding Photography’ awards, a Weddison, a couple of monthly picks for ‘Your Perfect Wedding Photography’ and I got a ‘Highly Commended’ at the Wedding Industry Awards. None of these would have been possible if it wasn’t for the awesome couples that I have had the pleasure of photographing. They have put their trust in me when I’ve lay in the mud, got tangled up in a bush, hid behind tables or told them to sand next to that weird looking door; that is hugely appreciated.

Outside of weddings I’ve loved spending time with my wife and boys. We fitted in a holiday to sunny Skegness and visited a fair few cool places too. For anyone interested, I document these days on my ‘journal’ page (Warning, contains two super cute kids). The support from these beautiful people is priceless and I couldn’t imagine my life without them by my side.

A massive thanks goes to my partner in crime, Roo Stain. Our Coates & Stain journey came to an end this year, but without it there wouldn’t be a J S Coates Wedding Photography. Thanks buddy.
I’ve also had the pleasure of working with a few other photographers this year, so please take a bow Winston Sanders, Chris Bunce, Darren Gair & Will Fuller. Big love also goes to all the amazing people at NPWC….legends.

Below is my personal best of 2017 collection. Every wedding has been amazing and chopping down tens of thousands of images to about 150 has been hard to say the least. I can’t wait for the 2018 season to begin and I’m excited to see where this year takes me. One thing is for sure, from the couples I have already met for next year….It won’t be dull 🙂
